Sarah Young is passionate about independent theater companies. Having directed and organized for The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Waffle Opera, San Francisco Opera on Tap, and West Edge Opera, she has seen the uniquely brilliant work that comes from beyond the mainstream. Ms. Young feels that as some large companies struggle with bloated budgets spent on pomp and flash, there has been a renaissance of new companies focused on the essentials of music and story. She sees live performance thriving in smaller, alternative venues allowing audiences to feel immersed in the action. Inspired by the wonderful support of Bay Area audiences of this new trend in theater, Ms. Young decided to found Opera Theater Unlimited, to produce passionate opera, musical theater, and art that will captivate and entertain.
