BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Sarah Young is passionate about independent theater companies. Having directed and organized for The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Waffle Opera, San Francisco Opera on Tap, and West Edge Opera, she has seen the uniquely brilliant work that comes from beyond the mainstream. Ms. Young feels that as some large companies struggle with bloated budgets spent on pomp and flash, there has been a renaissance of new companies focused on the essentials of music and story. She sees live performance thriving in smaller, alternative venues allowing audiences to feel immersed in the action. Inspired by the wonderful support of Bay Area audiences of this new trend in theater, Ms. Young decided to found Opera Theater Unlimited, to produce passionate opera, musical theater, and art that will captivate and entertain.
Katie Nix is a vibrant young soprano, stage director, and arts administrator. She has worked in administrative roles with a number of arts non-profits ranging from shoestring to multi-million dollar budgets, including the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the University Musical Society in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the University of Michigan Gilbert and Sullivan Society. As a stage director, she has worked with Thompson Street Opera Company (Louisville, KY), Fete Concerts, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Hailed as “sensational” by the San Francisco Examiner, her wide repertoire as a performer ranges from Baroque chamber opera to contemporary musical theatre.

She has developed independent productions with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Waffle Opera, Opera on Tap San Francisco, and Black Box Baroque in positions ranging from producer to social media manager to waffle maker. A versatile soprano, Kelly has performed a diverse collection of operatic and musical theater roles. She looks forward to bringing Opera Theater Unlimited to the dynamic landscape of Bay Area theatrical organizations.
